Thus most of them try to spend the whole week exploring what’s in store in the Big Apple. – Which is actually wise considering a week in the city may just give you a little of everything in it.
A week’s itinerary in New York is better spent checking out the sites and attractions in two of its largest and famous boroughs, Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Manhattan
Much of New York’s top offerings are in Manhattan. Being the largest among the five boroughs in the city, tourists heading to Manhattan are bound to have a handful of activities to do and interesting places to visit.
Start your week with exploring some of the borough’s famous streets, avenues, and boulevards. This should include the Madison Avenue which is famous for its top restaurants and luxurious hotels. Go shop in some of the avenue’s high-end boutiques or enjoy a break time in one of its cafés. After exploring Madison Av, you can take a walk around Broadway Avenue and find out why it is famous in the American theater industry. Expect to see a number of landmarks and attractions spread around the Broadway Av as well.
For those with interest in finance, the Wall Street should not miss your itinerary. As the financial heart of New York and the country, the Wall Street will give you a glimpse of some of the city’s top companies and organizations.
The Time Square and Union Square are also located in Manhattan, so you can visit it after strolling around the borough’s top avenues.
Walking around the streets and squares in Manhattan can become tiring. If this is the case, try to spend a day or two at the Central Park. The 840-acre world-famous park has a lot of activities in store that one day will not be enough to fully experience it.
Brooklyn
While Manhattan is known for its glamorous and bustling lifestyle, Brooklyn is known for its ethnic and vibrant neighborhood. From lower Manhattan, you can reach the borough by crossing the Brooklyn Bridge which a world-famous New York landmark.
When in the borough, go have a museum tour starting with the New York Transit Museum which showcases the city’s subway system construction; the Brooklyn Museum of Art for breathtaking collection of African, American, and Middle Eastern art pieces among others; and the Brooklyn Children’s Museum which will surely amuse tourists with kids.
