A weekend may not be enough to explore all of New York, but this will do just fine for you to experience some of its best offerings. Here’s a suggested itinerary if you are spending a weekend in New York:
Day 1 (Saturday)
Tour the city’s midtown and see its skyline! New York, aside from its iconic landmarks is also known for its fabulous skylines. It is in fact home to over a hundred buildings towering at least 500 feet tall.
While you can actually be just anywhere in the city to see these gigantic buildings, they are best viewed in two of New York’s tallest structures, Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center and of course, the Empire State Building. Be in awe with the marvelous perspective of Manhattan in whole.
After taking a view from the top, you can start strolling around the Times Square – “where it all happens”. Wander around the street and see for yourself why New York is also called the “City that Never Sleeps”. Be fascinated with the bright lights, big crowds, and big screens that dominate the area 24 hours a day, seven days in a week. For a better view of the city though, you should try strolling around the Times Square in the afternoon to experience the beautiful sunset in the city.
Day 2 (Sunday)
Sundays in New York are best spent visiting some of the city’s best museums. You can start touring the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the east of the 82nd St and be mesmerized with its over 2 million collection of various works of art, then head to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum for many contemporary artworks. You can end your museum tour at El Museu del Barrio at the 104th Street; here you can enjoy checking out a wide range of art pieces from the Latin American, Caribbean, and Puerto Rican culture.
Spending a weekend in New York needs some early planning as there’s just so much to see and visit in the Big Apple that you just have to decide on where you really want to be in this short-span of time.
